Launch of a public tender for a general contractor to construct the new ECB premises
In August 2007 the European Central Bank (ECB) will launch an international public tender for a general contractor to construct its new premises. The contract notice will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union, as well as on the ECB’s website.
The ECB will build its new premises on the site of the former wholesale market in the eastern part of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, based on the design of the Viennese architectural office COOP HIMMELB(L)AU. The new premises will include a high-rise building approximately 180 metres tall, the former wholesale market hall ( Großmarkthalle), other secondary buildings and a landscaped site.
The main construction work will commence in October 2008, with finalisation scheduled for before the end of 2011.
The work and services to be provided by the general contractor will mainly consist of construction work and fitting-out, but will also include planning and management services.
