Public access to ECB documents

On 19 February 2004 the Governing Council of the ECB adopted a Decision on revised Rules of Procedure of the ECB (ECB/2004/2).

On 4 March 2004, on the basis of Article 23 of these Rules of Procedure, the Governing Council adopted a Decision on public access to ECB documents (ECB/2004/3). It aims to ensure that the ECB’s legal framework respects objectives and standards similar to those applied by other EU institutions and bodies with regard to public access to documents.

Both decisions referred to above are today being published in the Official Journal of the European Union and can be found on the ECB’s website at http://www.ecb.europa.eu in the “Legal documents” section.
